Development and Competitive

Competitive Program

From U13 our competitive teams compete in regional or district leagues within south-eastern Ontario. Regional soccer is the highest level of youth soccer in Ontario below OPDL. Kingston United’s regional teams compete in the Eastern Ontario Soccer League (EOSL) which is mainly comprised of teams from Ottawa and Kingston.

District soccer provides a platform for players to compete locally within the Southern Ontario Soccer Association (SOSA). The league is comprised of teams based within the SOSA district (Belleville – Kingston – Brockville). Both regional and district teams train twice a week with one game-night per week during the summer season.

NEW this 2023 season:  Kingston United SC will be entering a team into the Ottawa Carleton Soccer League(OCSL).  Our women's team will be entering in WC2.

Development Program

Our development program runs from U8-U12 playing in a variety of formats as players progress through the age groups. Our U8/9 teams do not play in a league but play within interclub games programs throughout the year and some exhibition games and festivals in the summer.

Our U10-U12 teams compete in the SOSA leagues which do not publish scores or standings and are focused on player development. As a club we put an emphasis on skill development and fostering a lifelong love for the game, whatever level they go on to compete at.

2023 Winter Development Centre

The KU Development Centre is the new hub of youth soccer development in the Kingston area this winter. Focused on our Development phase players (8-12), it will comprise of a mix of technical training and small-sided games. The Development Centre is designed with a player-centred approach where the focus is developing the individual athlete through dynamic practice activities and games which will foster improved creativity and decision-making in the players. The centre will be run by UEFA and Canadian qualified coaches.

What is Competitive Soccer?

  • Development (all about development/fair game time/no scores, no standings/learning the game) is for ages U9-U12.  Teams will play solely  within the South Eastern Ontario District against Pegasus, Clippers, Belleville, Quinte West and more.

  • District is for ages U13 – U18. Teams will play in the DRSL but games will be played in the South Eastern Ontario District as well. This will require a small amount of travel in comparison to Regional & OPDL.

  • Regional is for ages U13 – U18. Teams will play in the ERSL which is the second highest level of competition in Ontario and requires a level of commitment to be able to compete at this level. Travelling is required.

  • OPDL is for ages U13, U14, U15. Teams will play in the Ontario Player Development League which is the highest level of competition in the province. Travel includes Ottawa, Kingston and GTA. High level of commitment required.
